Ministering with Youth at CHCC PDF Print E-mail

A Word from CHCC’s Associate Minister of Youth, Shaun Brown

The raising of children and youth in the Christian faith is a congregational, communal responsibility and not the task of one person.  The goal of the CHCC youth ministry is thus not to replace parents, but to come along side parents in teaching their youth to love and obey God.  As Deuteronomy 6:4–7 says:

4 Hear, O Israel: The LORD is our God, the LORD alone. 5 You shall love the LORD your

God withall your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your might. 6 Keep these words

that I am commanding you today in your heart. 7 Recite them to your children and talk

about them when you are at home and when you are away, when you lie down and when

you rise (NRSV).

Therefore, the goal of the CHCC youth ministry is to communally bring youth into a relationship with God and the church through prayer, worship, the study of Scripture, and service.  During their time in the CHCC youth ministry, youth will be aided in discovering how God has gifted and equipped them, through the transforming work of the Holy Spirit, to participate in the ministry of Christ so that they may be mature disciples of Christ.
