Statement of Faith

Statement of Faith

We believe Jesus Christ is the only begotten Son of God sent by God into the world to save people from their sins (John 3:16-17; Romans 5:8) and to extend to each individual new, eternal life, which has its beginning upon conversion and is fully realized in the next life (John 4:13-14; John 17:3; Romans 6:22; Galatians 6:8; 1 John 5:13).

We believe Jesus is the fulfillment of Old Testament scriptures (Psalms 16:9-11 and Acts 2:26-31; Isaiah 53; Micah 5:2; Luke 4:16-21; 1 Corinthians 15:3-4).

We believe Jesus died, was buried, and rose from the dead (Acts 2:22-24; Acts 17:31; Matthew 27:32-28:15; Mark 15:1-16:14; Luke 23:26-24:8; John 19:17-20:18).

We believe Jesus now sits at the right hand of God (Luke 22:69; Acts 2:33; Acts 5:31; Romans 8:34) and will one day return for his church (Acts 1:9-11; John 14:1-3; 1 Thessalonians 4:13-18; Hebrews 9:28) whereupon every believer will receive their eternal reward (Matthew 5:1-12; Matthew 10:40-42; 1 Corinthians 3:10-15; 2 Corinthians 5:10; Galatians 6:7-9; Ephesians 6:8) and spend eternity with God (Matthew 19:16-21; Matthew 26:46; John 3:36; Romans 6:23; 1 John 2:25).

We believe that every person is created by God, in his image (Genesis 1:26-27; Psalms 139:13-16; Ephesians 2:10), but that sin has broken our relationship with God (Genesis 3; Romans 5:12; Colossians 3:5-6). “All have sinned and fall short of the glory of God” (Romans 3:23). The end result of un-forgiven sin is eternal death and separation from God (Matthew 5:21-23; Matthew 25:31-46; Matthew 26:46; Mark 9:43-48; Revelation 2:11; Revelation 20:14-15).

We believe that salvation, forgiveness of sins and the promise of eternal life, are available to anyone (Acts 2:39; Hebrews 9:26b-281; 1 Peter 3:18; 2 Peter 3:9) who receives and confesses faith in Jesus Christ as their personal Lord and Savior (Matthew 10:32; Luke 12:8; Romans 10:9-10), who repents of their sins and submits to Christian baptism by immersion (Matthew 4:17; Acts 2:38; Acts 17:30; Acts 20:21; Romans 6:1-4) following the example and command set forth by Jesus (Matthew 3:16; Mark 1:9; Mark 16:16; Matthew 28:19).

We believe the Bible is the authoritative, inspired word of God (2 Timothy 3:16-17), given to humankind to communicate God’s love and salvation plan for the world (Luke 1:1-4; John 5:39; 2 Timothy 3:15; 2 Peter 1:20-21; Revelation 1:3) and to guide and direct people in their individual faith and life in God and to guide and direct the church in matters of faith and practice (Psalm 33:4; Matthew 7:24-27; 2 Timothy 1:13; Hebrews 4:12-13; James 1:21).

We believe the church is: (1) a worshipping community (Romans 12:1-2) charged with honoring God that he might be glorified and others pointed to him (Exodus 15:2; Psalm 34:3; 1 Corinthians 14:6-17); (2) Christ’s body in the world, placed in the world by God to continue Jesus’ earthly ministry of love and service (Matthew 5:43-48; John 13:2-15) developing and making new disciples of Jesus Christ (Acts 1:8; Acts 5:42; 1 Corinthians 12:27; Ephesians 1:22-23; Ephesians 5:23; Matthew 28:18-20).
